Network for Transition Economies.
National governments, civil society organisations and international
donor agencies created the Anti-Corruption Network in 1998, in recognition
of the value-added of knowledge sharing, improved donor co-ordination,
and enhanced collaboration between governments and civil society
in combating corruption.
The Network focuses on strategies to reduce public sector corruption
through support for the implementation of appropriate political,
institutional, and economic reforms. The Network emphasises regional
co-operation as a complement to national and sub-regional efforts,
and as a means to achievingan impact that exceeds the sum of the
parts.
Countries covered by the Network include: Albania, Armenia,
Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia,
Estonia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Lithuania, the
Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYROM), Moldova, Romania,
the Russian Federation, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Slovenia,Ukraine,
Uzbekistan, and the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia.
The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD)
hosts the Network Secretariat within its Anti-Corruption Division.
The Anti-Corruption Division serves as the focal point for the OECD's
work in the fight against bribery in international business through
the implementation of the OECD Anti-Bribery Convention and outreach
to non-member countries.
